Solomon Knew Something Was Coming: You Think?
There are some things that people state that you wonder, “where did that come from”? That was probably what the friends of Solomon were saying as he made mention of the following:
There is a generation rising that curses their fathers and speaks evil of their mothers. There is a generation rising that considers themselves to be pure in their own eyes, yet they are morally filthy, unwashed, and unclean. There is a generation rising that is so filled with pride, they think they are superior and look down on others. There is a generation rising that uses their words like swords to cut and slash those who are different. They would devour the poor, the needy, and the afflicted from off the face of the earth! Proverbs 30:11-14 (The Passion Translation)
Friends no doubt told Solomon that he was really stretching it. Who would speak evil of their mothers? Who would intentionally use “their words like swords to cut and slash those who are different”; who would want the”poor and afflicted off the very face of the earth”?
Well, it looks like Solomon traveled through time and got a glimpse of 2022! As I looked at my feed this morning I saw where women protesting the leak of the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe V Wade and decided that there should be a massive protest on Mother’s Day! It isn’t enough that mothers usually don’t get celebrated but one day a year; this group wants to protest what would be their inability to kill the baby in their womb! If you think this is sci-fi- check out the daily news. We are living in such a self-absorbed culture that the very thought of being without abortion on demand has people in arms, willing to protest any and everything that is sacred!
While I wanted to write something beautiful honoring the women who make use of all the years of their life (for motherhood does not end at the year 18) – sacrificially pouring, praying and giving into the life of their children – I find myself saddened to such a degree that I felt that I should share it with you, our reader. To think that we have birthed children who live in this kind of world does not make me give up hope – rather it makes me know that if we have not strategically taught our children to fight and to stand up for what they believe – then we need to give them a crash course NOW!
We cannot sit drinking our coffee while a part of our society does not see the forces of darkness that are encouraging them to mourn over women having the privilege to share in giving life! We must rise up and help our children, friends, and family see that the God of our salvation is also the giver of life, and for every life formed, there is purpose. Remember, for every sperm that makes it to an ovulating egg – there are millions who don’t! Life from the onset is a miracle! Isn’t that something worth fighting for?
My deviation today does not diminish the huge respect I have for women who call themselves mothers – either by birth, adoption, or because the lot of childcare fell on you. I honor you this Mother’s Day, and if no one else tells you how valued you are, may I be one to say – God loves you and so do I. Happy Mother’s Day – God’s Gentle General!
