If Only We Could Send This Message to Everyone!

There is no doubt that marketing your product pays. Even little children who can’t read, recognize the Golden Arches and ask their parents to stop for MdDonalds. If only we could package this verse and send it to everyone in this country:

Real wisdom, God’s wisdom, begins with a holy life and is characterized by getting along with others. It is gentle and reasonable, overflowing with mercy and blessings, not hot one day and cold the next, not two-faced. You can develop a healthy, robust community that lives right with God and enjoy its results only if you do the hard work of getting along with each other, treating each other with dignity and honor. James 3:17-18 (MSG)

Admittedly, people wanting wisdom probably does not rank as high as with those wanting McDonalds, but for those who do, this is a clear message which followed could change our world. I love the way the Message helps us see just how possible it is to have the kind of community that we all say we wish we had.

There is one deterrent in this passage, for it says that this can only be achieved through the “hard work of getting along with each other, treating each other with dignity and honor” . Herein lies the problem, for too many of us tend to be McDonalds or Whopper kind of people, we want it our way, with someone else doing the work!
