Where is Your Investment Going?
Investment opportunities abound, yet in order to gain the maximum benefit you have to look into the details – for advertising doesn’t always portray all the facts. I found this out when I investigated a vacation investment opportunity; what first appeared to be truth, was not the real truth. Life is kind of like that too:
15-17 Don’t love the world’s ways. Don’t love the world’s goods. Love of the world squeezes out love for the Father. Practically everything that goes on in the world—wanting your own way, wanting everything for yourself, wanting to appear important—has nothing to do with the Father. It just isolates you from him. The world and all its wanting, wanting, wanting is on the way out—but whoever does what God wants is set for eternity. 1 John 2:15-17 (MSG)
While investing for our future life we need to think about the things that prepare us. One thing is certain, investing in the ways of the world will not give us an eternal reward. The above passage clearly shows that that by investing in the the world’s goods, we are in fact squeezing out our love for the Father and the things of the kIngdom.
We know that Jesus said that the way to life was a narrow way. If we want to walk with God it does not allow you much room to walk with the world. Yet, even in this life on this narrow road, the benefit package is something that money can’t buy:
O my soul, bless God,
don’t forget a single blessing!
3-5 He forgives your sins—every one.
He heals your diseases—every one.
He redeems you from hell—saves your life!
He crowns you with love and mercy—a paradise crown.
He wraps you in goodness—beauty eternal.
He renews your youth—you’re always young in his presence.
6-18 God makes everything come out right;
he puts victims back on their feet…
God is sheer mercy and grace;
not easily angered, he’s rich in love.
He doesn’t endlessly nag and scold,
nor hold grudges forever.
He doesn’t treat us as our sins deserve,
nor pay us back in full for our wrongs.
As high as heaven is over the earth,
so strong is his love to those who fear him. Psalm 103 (select verses)
Try going to the world’s stockpile when you need healing; or when you’re wracked with grief, or guilt. Try going to the world to find true comfort (that doesn’t come with a price), true peace, that is lasting – true joy that transcends your circumstances.
Yes, the road may be narrow, but the riches on that narrow road are beyond anything else this world can supply.
