True Liberty!
Today the United States of America celebrated Independence Day! A recognition of the same date in 1776 when thirteen colonies made their official break with the Declaration of Independence from their sponsoring mother country, England. Two hundred and Forty-Six years have brought about a big change in this nation and today we have 50 states under this umbrella with all kinds of people, citizens and non-citizens. People who believe in and support this nation, and people who don’t believe in it and refuse to salute the American flag.
This post is not to argue any position. For I have discovered over the years that there are definite merits that come with living in this nation and being. a citizen. Yet the greatest independence I received, was the day that I gave my sins and shame to Jesus and in return He gave me liberty and freedom such as I had never known before:
Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty [emancipation from bondage, true freedom]. 2 Corinthians 3:17 (AMP)
Living with the spirit of God inside of us affords us HIs presence always. And as the above scripture states, where the Lord is there is a liberty and a freedom that surpasses any law of any land. While it is our duty to abide by the laws of the land in which we dwell, our real citizenship is with the Kingdom of God, and that citizenship affords us a sustaining power to live out our liberty and freedom on this earth.
Chains cannot bind us, ideologies cannot restrain us, for our heart and our soul belong to the King of Kings, and the Lord of Lords. So while we can celebrate a political remembrance on July 4th- we can celebrate the freedom we have in Christ each and every day!

Amen Maria!
