Come On My Soul…
There is a contemporary song that I have come to love because it speaks to something that I know need to be reminded of. Here is a portion of it:
…Come on, my soul
Oh, don’t you get shy on me
Lift up your song
‘Cause you’ve got a lion inside of those lungs
Get up and praise the Lord, hey
Praise the Lord
Praise the Lord
Praise the Lord
So I throw up my hands
Praise You again and again
‘Cause all that I have is a hallelujah
Hallelujah
And I know it’s not much
But I’ve nothing else fit for a King
Except for a heart singing hallelujah
Hallelujah

Yes, there is a lion inside of our lungs that needs to shout out to our King, Hallelujah! Glory for all that He has done, praises for all He is doing, mercy for all He is going to do!
When we recognize that “by our words we will justified and by our words we will be condemned” (Mt 12:37 KJV), then we guard our words more carefully. We recognize that praises to God fit any occasion, and although we are not entitled to anything, yet our merciful God says to “ask – and it shall be given”. The love of God is past our understanding, trying to figure out a formula for getting in His grace is futile, what He wants us to do is to receive, and receive with gratitude. To trust, and relinquish control, letting Him guide the journey of our lives.
Admittedly we all have twelve inches from head to heart which is in constant conflict with the will of God, yet that portion of our head – the mouth – allows us to change that conflict, for we can speak what He says to speak, we can pray with our understanding and pray in words that cannot be uttered, to conform our thoughts and heart in alignment with His will.
So, come on my soul, don’t you get shy on me, lift up a song of praise like the lion inside of me; and when I can’t say anything else give God a grateful Hallelujah!
Maria
Hallelujah!!
I second that….Hallelujah!
