This is Trust!
Have you ever heard a line in the movies coming from an actor trying to convince someone to trust them? They say with such sincerity, “don’t you trust me“? It is said with such sincerity that the recipient would feel like a traitor not to reply in the affirmative. I’m sure over your life span you have had someone ask you the same thing, what was your reply? When you gave your answer, did you know all that would be involved in ‘trusting’ the inquirer?
Well, God asks us to trust Him and spells out clearly what is involved in that trust:
Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track. Don’t assume that you know it all. Run to God! Run from evil! Your body will glow with health, your very bones will vibrate with life! Honor God with everything you own; give him the first and the best. Your barns will burst, your wine vats will brim over. But don’t, dear friend, resent God’s discipline; don’t sulk under his loving correction. It’s the child he loves that God corrects; a father’s delight is behind all this. Proverbs 3:4-5 (MSG)
This passage in Proverbs lets us know exactly what is involved in trusting God, and what will happen if we don’t. It also gives us a friendly reminder that trust involves not just trusting in the good times, but also trusting Him when He corrects us. For love involves both trust leading to good things and trust leading to growth things. When we undergo correction, it leads us to growth, and if applied, growth lets us know that it is a good thing as well!
There is no doubt trust can often be trying! It can sometimes try us to the very core of our being. It involves waiting and waiting is not usually one of most people’s strong suits. Yet, it is during these times that if we yield to the process, that we will feel closer to God and in alignment with the Holy Spirit. This alignment affords us the opportunity to receive miracles and blessings we would not otherwise receive.
Bottom line is yielding to trust in God provides good things and growth things and blessings untold.
