Just Saying…
Usually I don’t write posts on Saturday, but this has been such a busy week that I haven’t had a chance to follow my usual schedule. That is what is on my mind – being busy. I was so busy the other day that I scraped my car on the side of the garage – and received some scratches as a benefit. Now that my friend is being too busy!
While I have always had more schedule than days, the one thing I haven’t factored in making a calendar is that age and stage requires that I give more thought to what I do and how I do it. Slowing down is more than phrase when it comes to aging – it is a necessity. Coming to grips in my mind, with the slowing down of my body is something I have yet to successfully reconcile.
Yet, each of us much give heed to the seasons of life:
Shout that people are like the grass.
Their beauty fades as quickly
as the flowers in a field.
7 The grass withers and the flowers fade
beneath the breath of the Lord.
And so it is with people.
8 The grass withers and the flowers fade,
but the word of our God stands forever.” Isaiah 40:6-8 (NLT)
It is certainly truer than we may like to realize, but we are like grass and flowers in a field – daily withering and fading in our strength, but we can take comfort in one thing – the word of our God stands forever!
Therefore we do not faint. We can realize that with Christ we can do all things. We may need more time to do those “all things” – but we can do them. Therefore I take comfort in this, knowing that because my redeemer lives – I shall accomplish that which God purposes, now to learn to let go of the other things – we’re still in school.
Take this last summer week-end to stop and enjoy the wonderful weather and your wonderful families and friends. Have a blessed Labor Day week-end!
Maria
Oh Maria I am so sorry to hear this. I am trying to learn this lesson too, to slow down and be more intentional of what I do and how I do it as I age. Love and blessing to you my sister!!
