It’s Really Simple…
Life is not really as complicated as we sometimes make it out to be. Living a life that will bring rewards is really quite simple:
He has told you, O man, what is good;
And what does the Lord require of you
Except to be just, and to love [and to diligently practice] kindness (compassion),
And to walk humbly with your God [setting aside any overblown sense of importance or self-righteousness]. Micah 6:8 (AMP)
It’s really not hard to show kindness and compassion to our fellow sojourners. I can think of the times when I was most impatient with someone who riled me. What I didn’t know was what was going on in their life, that made them act out of sorts. If only I had prayed, rather than reacting, I wouldn’t have regret.
Another problem we tend to have is playing a comparison game. We avoid people who we think are not in the same class as we are, whether above or below. Sometimes we even put on airs ourselves to keep from feeling inadequate in a certain setting; it may be us who think they are so much better than someone else.
The remedy for both high and low self-esteem is the same – walk humbly with God. Allow the master to lead you and guide you in all your relationships, in all your actions, in all your thinking. God wants us to do as the Apostle Paul says:
For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. Romans 12:3 (KJV)
If we follow these admonitions we have a simple strategy for a good life.
