Don’t Forget Love Day!
While the title may seem as if it referring to Valentine’s Day, it really isn’t. For every day that breaks is an opportunity to remember that we are commanded to love one another:
So I give you a new command: Love each other deeply and fully. Remember the ways that I have loved you, and demonstrate your love for others in those same ways. Everyone will know you as My followers if you demonstrate your love to others. John 13:34-35 (THE VOICE)
The above verse is in the red – Jesus said it! It is not up for debate or determination – it is a command. And in case we are confused, Jesus tells us how to do it- the same way He demonstrated His love for us. Do you remember – that sin you committed that was so grievous, you wondered if God could ever forgive you – well, He did. That temper tantrum you had over what happened at work the other day – He forgave that too. Go back, not twenty years, how about this week – if you are honest you know that He showered down His love on you and there was no way you were worthy.
God wants our love to be on display. This is how the world knows what love is, and this is how the world will know that you are a follower of Christ. It takes everything in us to sometimes feel not taken advantage of, or put down, or made to feel belittled by someone we perceive to be over us. Yet, this is the quest that we have been charged with, and it is not a mission impossible – it is very possible-and when we begin to flow in it, it frees us to take up wings and fly. For it is not our love, manufactured and boxed out – it is the love of God, available to all.
