What Are You Hearing?

Every day God is speaking, to some it is a voice inside that they hear clearly. To others He speaks through circumstances and events. Whatever the method, God wants us to be aware of things that are happening around us. Habakkuk asked God some specific questions and God answered him specifically. Then He told Habakkuk to let others know:

Then the Lord said to me, “Write my answer plainly on tablets, so that a runner can carry the correct message to others. Habakkuk 2:2 (NLT)

It is a fallacy that God wants to hide things from HIs people. God wants us to know not only what is going on, but what is coming – so we can be prepared. And that preparation is not just a physical preparation like storing water and food. What God wants us to know is that if we are prepared spiritually, we can face anything. Habakkuk further states:

I will wait quietly for the coming day
    when disaster will strike the people who invade us.
17 Even though the fig trees have no blossoms,
    and there are no grapes on the vines;
even though the olive crop fails,
    and the fields lie empty and barren;
even though the flocks die in the fields,
    and the cattle barns are empty,
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord!
    I will be joyful in the God of my salvation!
19 The Sovereign Lord is my strength!
    He makes me as surefooted as a deer,
    able to tread upon the heights. Habakkuk 3:16-19 (NLT)

What Habakkuk realized, and something we can also be assured of is that it is the Sovereign Lord who is our strength; it is He that will take us through whatever storm comes our way; whatever calamity comes upon the earth – for knowing what is coming is not enough. We must spend our energy knowing HIM!
