A Hope Deferred…
One of the great things about us as human beings is that we have the unique capacity to dream dreams. Whether awake or asleep, we find that there are things that are presently not in our life, that in our heart seem so real, so attainable. Unfortunately, many of us spend our life reaching for dreams, without considering what is presently before us. By working with those things that are present in our lives does not negate our dreams, but it affords us the opportunity to make the most of today:
3Keep trusting in the Lord and do what is right in his eyes.
Fix your heart on the promises of God, and you will dwell in the land,
feasting on his faithfulness.
4Find your delight and true pleasure in Yahweh,
and he will give you what you desire the most.
5Give God the right to direct your life,
and as you trust him along the way,
you’ll find he pulled it off perfectly! Psalm 37 (TPT)
As this Psalm conveys, our major focus should be in finding, “the true pleasure in Yahweh“. I believe firmly that God is a dream giver and a dream maker.
I believe He places those dreams in our heart, but if we try to make them happen, the odds are not as good as if He does the planning. Only as we find God to be not only our source, but our joy, can we appreciate the good things of this life.
If we put all of our hope in riches, we can lose them – then where are we? If we put all of our hope in man, he can fail us, then where are we? If we put all of our hope in our ability, we can fail to achieve our goal, then where are we?
Psalm 37 assures us that boy putting our hope, our trust, our confidence in God, we will find that He is faithful. We find that He will give us that which we desire the most, and all along life’s highway we will find that, “(He)…will put it off perfectly.”
Let’s not consider what we see, or even hope for; let’s trust in the Lord with all of our heart and watch and see the radiant plan He brings forth – perfectly!
Maria
