Make It A Personal Jubilee!
Jubilee by definition is a time marking, “a special anniversary of an event, especially one celebrating twenty-five or fifty years of a reign or activity,” In this definition it mentions “celebrating”! In the Bible, Jubilee refers to, “a time of celebration, a time of rest and restoration occurring every fifty years”
The secular and Biblical definitions both include the word, “celebration”. However the Bible definition includes not just one day of celebration, but a whole year of celebration including “rest” and “restoration”.
When God created the earth, He did it in six days. On the seventh day He rested. As God begins to teach HIs people how to live, He includes a reference to “rest””
9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
God commanded a day of rest, a sabbath to the Lord, the no one should work, not man, nor beast. He did this because He knew the value of rest extended to far more than giving your muscles a break. He knew that our entire being, body, soul, and spirit needs to be refreshed so we can produce the kind of labor that reaps reward.
For the Jubilee, God asked them to have seven sabbath rests, seven times seven years and then proclaim a Jubilee. Although we do not live under a theocracy, with God as our employer, getting to set the calendar, we do live under a governmental system where five or six days we labor – and then get to have a day of rest. On that day of rest, make it a mini-jubilee – make it a celebration , a time of rest, a time of restoration. Get in the face of your Heavenly Father who can give real rest to the weary and watch how your worktime harvest will increase abundantly.
