When Seasons Change…

In the Midwest we are experiencing the changing of the seasons. While the weather pattern is not yet consistent with balmy weather, the signs of spring and most days the temperatures of spring weather has come. It is so good to see the budding of the trees, to get a concert from the birds singing in the bushes; it is comforting to know that you light and gas bill are going to go down during this time of year. What is better than all that, is the ability to get out in the fresh air, feel the sunshine on your face, and move freely through the streets with no hindrance of ice and snow.

Just as nature changes the seasons, so too does God change the seasons of our life. While there are many of us who want to know the future, and how we are going to navigate through our senior years, there are some things that God reserves only in His own department:

My times are in Your hands; Rescue me from the hand of my enemies and from those who pursue and persecute me. Psalm 31:15 (AMP)

If ever we need to have the assurance of these words when it seems as if we are living in a world gone mad. There is another Psalm that I think fits here:

So teach us to number our days, That we may cultivate and bring to You a heart of wisdom. Psalm 90:1 (AMP)

If we recognize that God holds the times in HIs hands, and that though we will not know the number of our days, we should certainly recognize that they won’t be forever. And if we train and nurture our heart to have wisdom, we will make good use of those days, and honor the God who holds them, making good use of every season.

Amen,

Maria
